Personal Development Week 2022
Year 13 Personal Development Week
As previously notified, next week is Personal Development Week where the normal timetable is collapsed and each year group follows a specific programme of activities. The week runs from Tuesday 19th – Friday 22nd October - a reminder that Monday is a Training Day so the school is closed to students.
A Level / BTEC Subjects
The Year 13 subject timetable for this week is individualised for each student. Although the normal timetable is not running, all students have been set specific tasks in each of their subjects to complete at home and the large majority of Year 13 students will also be asked to come in to school for specific face to face intervention sessions for one or more of their courses. If you have intervention sessions you will receive your personalised timetable soon, if applicable. Attendance at the in-school sessions are compulsory as is completion of all subject work set on AIM which will be checked by teachers.
In addition to the timetabled session for Art and Music, students can attend additional sessions in school at times agreed individually with their teacher.
With trial examinations coming up in January, this is also a good time for students to revisit their notes and plan revision timetables.
If you have transportation issues on your selected days there will be a designated space for you to work in.
Work Related Learning
Some students are undertaking external Work Experience which has been cleared and approved by the school.
All students are able to use this time to complete next steps work; whether this be completing UCAS applications, using a platform called Unifrog for virtual work experience (logins will be sent separately to all students), researching apprenticeships and so forth. Students can also make an appointment with our Careers Advisor, Miss Schaeffer, during the week and attend school for a one-to-one meeting to discuss future pathways. Additionally, there are some face to face careers based talks in school which students who are applying for a medicine related course will be invited to.
Students are encouraged to also complete relevant MOOCS (massive open online courses) – these are online free courses (some subject specific and some vocational) which help develop independent study skills and give further experience of areas of interest. They are ideal preparation for University or the World of Work. Recommended MOOCs are listed below in subject / vocational areas.

Tutors will be checking on the completion of work in this area when we return after the holiday.
Support for the Lower School
Year 13 students will have been set enough work to occupy them for the week but if they would like to offer help for the lower school during Personal Development Week in specific areas, they should email me directly. I already have some drama students in for the anti-bullying play and the House Leadership Team will be helping out with House activities, but there are opportunities in the following other areas; sport, languages, PSHE, the arts as well as general organisational duties.
If you have any questions now, or during the week, please email email@example.com as I will be the contact for this week.
Please continue to inform us of a positive Covid-19 result via email at firstname.lastname@example.org
All students attending school for face-to-face sessions must wear normal Sixth Form office dress.
