Year 12 Parental Information Evening 2025

Y12 Parental Information Evening – Thursday 11th September

Introduction to Life in Year 12 & Residential Education Programme

You are invited to a Parents’ Evening on Thursday 11th September 2025 starting at 7.00pm in the Theatre in The Cripps Hall. Students should not attend due to the capacity in the theatre.

The evening will be divided into two parts:

Introduction to Life in Year 12 – 7.00pm - 8.20pm

The aim of this part of the evening is to make parents familiar with procedures and issues that will affect students as they progress into the Sixth Form.  There will be a presentation, as well as an opportunity to meet with your son or daughter’s Form Tutor. This part of the evening is organised by Form Groups, so it is essential you know which form your son/daughter is in.

During the evening we will cover the following topics:

  • Target setting and the role of staff in teaching, monitoring and mentoring Sixth Form students.
  • Information on Mindset for Learning, Study and Learning and Student Wellbeing.
  • The School – Parent relationship and lines of communication.
  • Role of Students – expectations and standards.
  • Role of Parents – Supporting the student’s education.
  • Sixth Form Co-Curriculum Programme including Work Experience

Year 12 Residential Visit Information - October 2025– 8.20pm - 9.00pm

We are now only a few short weeks away from this year’s visit.  Details of the Bournemouth  trip were given out via email in July and an additional letter is enclosed with full details.  Following the Introduction to Life in Year 12 talk, there will be additional information concerning the October Residential in the Theatre.

The dates for the Y12 Trip to Bournemouth in October are: Monday 20th October to Friday 24th October 2025 – times to be confirmed nearer the date.

Please contact me at school if you have any queries that need addressing regarding the Residential Trip in October.

For those students who are not attending a trip, students are expected to assist with Personal Development week here at the school.

If you are driving to the school, can I ask you to avoid parking in the adjacent roads and to use the Cripps Hall car park opposite the school?

Many Thanks

Mr R Goswell
