NSB KS3 Production: Private Peaceful 2017
This year we have been lucky enough to secure the rights to perform Private Peaceful, written by Michael Morpurgo and adapted for stage by Simon Reade.
“I’ve had nearly eighteen years of yesterdays and tomorrows, and tonight I must remember as many of them as I can. Tonight, more than any other night of my life, I want to feel alive!”
The play switches from Tommo Peaceful in the present to the adventures, challenges and heart-break he and his brother Charlie experience growing up in rural England. He remembers the Wolfwoman, the Colonel, Big Joe and Molly amongst many others who he and Charlie encounter during their childhood before they make the ultimate decision to go and fight for their country. This particular version is written for an ensemble cast, a perfect script for a KS3 production as it allows the students to share in the storytelling, ignite the memories of the Peaceful family and work together to bring this world renowned favourite to the stage.
