Young Hero - Michal Wojcik

Michal was awarded this accolade from BBC Radio Northampton on Wednesday 10th September at a ceremony at The Royal and Derngate. It is awarded to someone under 16 who has made a positive impact in their community or achieved something exceptional and Michal is definitely a worthy winner.
Currently in Year 11, he has already made a significant impact within school and the wider community. He is a dedicated and proactive young man who demonstrates respect, kindness and compassion alongside hard work, determination and drive. He received NSB's Junior Personal Development Award for services to the school in March as well as most valuable contribution to Washington House and Entrepreneurial/Enterprise Student of the Year. He ensured that NSB were part of UK Parliament Week and is the school's representative as a youth councillor at Northampton's Youth Council. He is also part of NSB's water Polo Team alongside the County Team.

Earlier this year, he travelled to Poland with his family and spent some time teaching English to students, and he has joined the youth advisory group for Cystic Fibrosis Trust and it is in relation to the latter that he was nominated by his Mother, Beata.
"His kindness, resilience, and dedication to his younger brother, Jakub, who has cystic fibrosis (CF) and type 1 diabetes. Whatever he does, he always has other people at heart and is always looking for solutions when grown-ups are not seeing the issue."
