Northampton School for Boys

Headteacher's Bulletin - Friday, June 14th 2024

A huge well done to Year 11, Year 13 and the Year 12 Further Maths students who have either crossed the Public Exam Finish Line or have it firmly in their sights with just a week left of this year's series of papers. The attitude of the students has been first rate throughout and bodes well for the August results.

Five of our Year 12 students are heavily in preparation for next week's 'University of Cambridge Davidson Inventors Challenge 2024 Final', which takes place on Friday 21st  June from 3-5 pm. The four teams of national finalists, selected from well over one hundred applicants, have been announced (as indicated below) with each team set to present their sustainability-focused innovation to a panel of world leading STEM experts. The very best of NSB luck to Susanna Law, Josh Obi, Petula Law, Kanthika Bandara and Elena Davies.

  • Team EGESA: Y12 - Northampton School for Boys
  • The Lab Tech’s: Y12 - Twycross House School
  • Breaking Bonds: Y11- King Edward VI Camp Hill School for Girls
  • Team Mozzo: Y12 - Bishop Stortford College

One of the best parts of NSB Sport is the sheer breadth of activities on offer to the students. Thanks to Mr Quinn's dedicated input, Gaelic Football has been running as a weekly training session for several years now with many participating boys joining the local club and / or using Gaelic Football as one of their three GCSE PE sports as a direct result of the school programme.  We were delighted to play our first ever official school fixture this week when the Year 7 and 8s took on Spratton School in three mini-games which were all closely contested. NSB eventually came out on top, but the result was secondary to the first ever formal match experience for virtually all of the participants.

A huge well done to the Year 7 basketball team who returned on Thursday from the Central Region's Jnr NBA finals wearing a Champion's Ring on their finger and tough luck to the Year 8s who performed brilliantly to get to the final before narrowly losing in the last match up.

Three of our big NSB  Summer Theatre events are approaching rapidly.
