Headteacher's Bulletin 1st December 2023

The entire cast of the Senior Drama Production, held last Friday / Saturday, excelled in a highly polished version of the deeply moving and tragic tale of 'The Every Brothers'. The poignant story of the loss of three of the four Northamptonshire based brothers during World War 2, was adapted brilliantly for the Cripps stage by Y13 students, Findlay Normanton and Ruby Slade and great credit also goes to all of the leads who remembered long monologues to perfection.

Louis Druker in Y10 is a prodigiously talented young NSB musician, who's ability is so strong that he was selected last year, after an intensely rigorous audition process, to be taught weekly at the elite Guildhall School of Music in London.  For the second year running, Louis has been listed as one of the UK's 'Top 40 Young Drummers' which is a competition open to all drummers under 16 across the country. This is an outstanding achievement, as competition is stiff - attracting north of 500 high calibre entries annually and Louis is still a year young for the age limit. The short list for the final ten drummers will be made next week with the finals to be held in February, just before the NSB Music tour to Los Angeles.  The video clip of Louis' entry to the competition can be accessed below - an incredibly  high skill level, yet played with such a nonchalant style!

Our Junior, Inter and Senior Boys Teams are travelling to Ipswich this weekend for the ESAA Cross Country Cup National Finals. Very few schools across England have all 3 teams in the finals and Mr Taplin and Mr Greer have high hopes for an extremely talented group of NSB runners. Six runners will compete in each of the three age groups with the top four counting. The National Cup is awarded to the team with the lowest total place score of the four fastest runners combined. Many thanks to 'Able Mortgages' for sponsoring the new National Final shirts:

Congratulations to the U18 Water Polo Team who sailed through the first round of their National Cup on Thursday and to the U13A and U13B football teams who won through their National ties with the U14As playing their fifth round tie this afternoon.

Next week we have two NSB Trust Christmas Concerts to look forward to in the Cripps Theatre - Northampton School have their 'Winter Showcase' on Tuesday and the NSB 'Jingle All the Way' show is on Thursday - both at 7pm. We are also hosting the first ever NSB Staff 'Christmas Panto' on December 14th following a student KS3 run through earlier that day - potentially a 'must watch' evening of high drama and entertainment!!!
