Headmaster's Bulletin 16th June 2023
The school was deeply saddened to hear of the recent passing of former employee, David Chew. David was a wonderful English teacher / member of SLT who was always incredibly kind and inspirational to all who came into contact with him. Two tributes from close colleague Helen Topping Shaw and former Headteacher, Sir Michael Griffiths can be found on the front page of the school website. Our thoughts go out to David's wife - Vicki and family at this immensely difficult time.
Our Senior Boys Dance group have excelled once again by being selected from hundreds of entries to be the East Midlands representatives at the U.Dance National Showcase in Newcastle in July. Highly praised for their creativity and dynamism, the group are hotly tipped to bring the Northern Stage to its feet!
NSB students continue to work incredibly hard to have positive impact in the local community and we were delighted today to receive a certificate from the Duke of Edinburgh Award Scheme for a fantastic 2795 hours of voluntary work recorded by NSB students in the Bronze / Silver / Gold Award Programmes over the last year.
Many congratulations to former students Ethan McInerney and Dean de Barros whose short, animated film 'Terra Firma’ was recently selected to premiere at a Film Festival in Paris, where it won the ‘Films 2023 Choice Award’ by the jury. As a result, Ethan and Dean have earned an invite to another prestigious film event in Arizona later this year!
