Headmaster's Bulletin 23rd June 2017
There has been plenty to celebrate across the school this week with some outstanding performances in extra-curricular music, dance and sport.
The series of summer musical events kicked off on Wednesday evening with some fabulous performances at the 'Music Matters 1' concert where the students played supremely well despite the intense heat. Supporters of NSB music do not have long to wait for the next event as the aptly named 'Here Comes The Sun' concert follows just a week later on Wednesday, June 28th with tickets still available from the Cripps Hall Box Office.
Following a series of local, county and regional rounds our Year 10 dancers have been chosen to represent the East Midlands at the National Youth Dance Festival, at the Birmingham Hippodrome on Friday, July 14th. Given that hundreds of groups from all over the UK entered this event in order to go through a mass process of selection, it is a truly outstanding achievement to be picked as the regional representative and I hope that the boys thoroughly enjoy their deserved time on the big stage and in front of a 2000 strong audience. In the words of the show's organiser, Becky Aram, 'It is an incredible achievement to be chosen from over 80 groups to represent the East Midlands at the National Event. Northampton School for Boys will reflect the diversity and creativity that comes through the U.Dance framework brilliantly.'
Our Junior and Inter Boys Athletics teams took to the Tipton track in Birmingham on Tuesday to compete in the regional final of the English Schools' Track and Field Cup. I'm delighted to report that the Inter Boys held off a stiff challenge from Bromsgrove and Fairfax School to take the title which qualifies the team for the national final. The final is being held in Oxford on July 1st and will see NSB competing in a bracket of the twelve top athletics schools in the country (state and private).
As exams draw to a close we look forward to welcoming our prospective Year 12 students who will be attending induction on Wednesday or Thursday next week, followed by our new Year 7 students who will attend transfer days the following week.
