Headmaster's Bulletin 26th January 2018
The DfE performance league tables for GCSE results in 2017 were published yesterday and made excellent reading for the school.
There are 77 secondary schools in Northamptonshire and NSB topped the county rankings in three of the four Key Performance Indicators (highest average grade per GCSE entry, highest number of students achieving the EBacc qualification and the highest number of students securing a Grade 5 and above in English and Maths). Our progress score of +0.49 (for each GCSE entry students are achieving +0.49 of a grade higher than other students of similar ability nationally) also reflects hugely favourably against the national progress score for boys of (minus) - 0.23 grades. Our disadvantaged cohort of forty students achieved a phenomenal +0.51 progress score against a national average of (minus) - 0.4 grades for this group. This is a copy of the Times school rankings for Northamptonshire, published today:
In the world of Dance the equivalent to the football FA Cup Final is the 'MOVE IT' Dance Festival at Olympia, London which showcases the best talent in Dance across the UK and indeed from all over the world. Incredibly, our Year 11 boys have secured a spot on the main stage which is virtually unheard of for a non-Dance School. Please see the attached link for our headlining act at the Festival: Click Here
Finally, many congratulations to James Bushell who has been named in the England U17 Water Polo Squad for the EU Nations Cup, hosted in Prague over the weekend of 23 - 25th March and to Iestyn Hughes who has made the Welsh U19 Water Polo squad. Neither of these boys had played water polo until they came to the school. Both have embraced what the school has to offer and are a product of the coaching infrastructure which has been embedded so successfully within the school, town, club and region by Jon Lane.
