The new rugby season starts tomorrow with the First XV travelling to West London to take on Mill Hill school in the first leg of our Daily Mail title defence and the U15s are at Oundle School for a pre-season festival. The Senior Squad will be one star player down however, but for very good reason as Lower Sixth student Fin Shields has been called up to the Saints First Team as travelling reserve for their away game in the Premiership Cup against Saracens. Fin should feel quite at home on the Saints Bus as brother and last year's NSB Captain - Hugh - is the starting Fly Half and former NSB students Oliver Scola and Sonny Tonga'uiha are also in the playing squad.

 

 

Many congratulations to Year 13 student, Abby Davie who competed in the World Junior Powerlifting Championships this summer and positioned an amazing 8^th in the World despite being a year young for the age group!

Finally, in the last week of the Summer Term, Year 12 embarked on a week of work experience and I have been hugely impressed with the feedback from employers as to the level of outstanding impact and work ethic demonstrated by the cohort during this week. One such example, included Harry Grimshaw, Viola Kaune, Holly Rashid and Joana Effa who excelled when they undertook 'Workplace Safari' - a week-long programme designed to give local students a broad understanding of careers within local government and the variety of services provided by the West Northants Council. Within this placement, rather than being placed in a single team, the students spent the week meeting colleagues from across the organisation, taking part in practical activities, visiting key sites and learning about careers ranging from social work, public health and legal services to digital, regeneration, communications and HR.  A hugely valuable experience for all four students which was very much mirrored across the cohort and we are extremely grateful to all the companies who provide such engaging placements!
