Headteacher's Bulletin - Friday, January 9th 2026

It has been a full-on start for our Year 11, Year 13 and Year 12 Further Maths students who have started the new Term with their Trial Examinations. Despite the distractive weather conditions over the past week, the students have shown an impressive attitude so far, which bodes well for the Trial results and for the summer series of Public Exams.

Mrs Greenaway wrote a full article for the last Headteacher Bulletin of Term 2, on the hugely enjoyable Charity Week that the school enjoyed just prior to breaking up before Christmas. The whopping final total raised for our designated charities has been confirmed as above £14,000 which is incredible - huge thanks to all students / staff / parents and carers who supported the week with donations and involvement in activities.

The NSB Extra-Curricular programme for 2026 ramps up again fully next week with a lot to look forward to this Term, not least the Jazz@The Cripps Concert on Sunday 25th January featuring Down for the Count as well as the Key Stage 3 Drama Production - Robin Hood playing in the Cripps Theatre on Thursday, January 29th and Friday, January 30th. It promises to be a fun-filled event for the whole family, including a Robin Hood themed Atrium with themed games, popcorn stall, chocolate raffle, pink lemonade as well as the magical show itself, which is accompanied by a live NSB Band. Tickets are available via the link below.

It is shaping up to be a huge term for NSB Rugby with all four National Cup sides still in the latter stages of their respective competitions. January kicks off with a fantastic invitational fixture tomorrow morning in Oxford when our U16s, who are the reigning English National Champions,  take on one of the top Irish Rugby Schools - Blackrock College - the very best of luck to Mr Bradbury and his outstanding squad!

We were also delighted over the holidays to be recognised by the Daily Telegraph with a double page pull out in their Christmas Eve edition on NSB's rugby success. The article pays tribute to the First XV who secured the Daily Mail League Title in December as well as highlighting the Community Coach framework behind the exceptional success of the programme. Huge congratulations for this level of national recognition to the First XV students and to all the staff who have masterminded the Senior Squad's success.

Finally, a timely reminder that the school has a severe weather protocol in the event of potential full or partial school closure which can be accessed on the website here -  Severe Weather Protocol
