Headteacher's Bulletin - Friday, October 10th 2025

NMPAT (Northamptonshire Music & Performing Arts Trust) held their prestigious Fellowship Awards Evening on Tuesday night. Four of our top Sixth Form musicians had performed brilliantly through the audition rounds to get to the finals - Dominic Jackson - Voice, Chloe Alcazar - Violin, Stanley Rees - Trombone and Maisy Bull - Saxophone.  Special congratulations to Stanley and Maisy who won the two Nigel Cobb Instrumental Fellowships, an exceptional achievement having excelled in their respective final performances! Well done also to Alex Dixon, Noah Grant, Chloe Alcazar and Loraine Nombo who performed wonderfully well as a String Quartet at the West Northamptonshire Civic Service on Thursday evening in the All Saints' Church.

It was an honour to welcome back to the school this week Robert Monroe and Eleanor Peacock who are direct descendants of former Headteacher Edward Reynolds (Headteacher 1907-1921) whose Headship provided an outstanding legacy for NSB - this included overseeing the move of the school to the Billing Road site, setting up the ONs for students/staff returning from the Great War and leaving the school after his tenure with thriving student numbers, a rich extra-curricular programme, outstanding academic success and in rude financial health. Edward Reynolds' portrait, alongside those of all other former Headteachers, can be seen in the 1911 Hall. We are delighted that Eleanor, who has moved back into the Northamptonshire area, will present the two Edward Reynolds Prizes at our Academic Awards Evening in December.

On Tuesday evening next week, we are hosting our Post 16 Information Evening for Y11 students, parents & carers where we will be discussing / signposting all of the various Post 16 options across the town including our own NSB Sixth Form. A significant number of our student leavers go into Apprenticeships and I was delighted to receive a linked update from Mrs Howard this week for our Y13 2025 leavers, with places gained at a number of high profile local and national firms including: Mercer & Hole,  Morrisons, Deloitte, Bhangal Construction, SoilTechnics, Forvis Mazars, Howdens Law, Colonial Construction, TC Group , Skansia, KPMG and Grant Thornton.

It's been a bumper week for NSB Sport with outstanding wins in the National Cup for the following teams:

U14B Basketball v St Pauls

U16B Football v Vandyke

U13A Football v Lutterworth

First XV Rugby v Solihull

U14A Rugby v Northampton School

U15A Rugby v Stowe

First X1 Football v Campion

There were also good victories outside of the National Cup for the U12A&B Rugby teams, the U13A Rugby team, the U16A and U13A Water Polo teams and the U16B Rugby team.

A warm thank you to all NSB supporters who attended these games and there is a similar bumper crop of fixtures to look forward to next week!

We are eagerly anticipating our first major music concert of the year next Thursday - 'Hollywood Harmonies' with our annual Visual Arts Exhibition then following on November 4th. Tickets for both events are available from the Box Office.
