Mrs Bradley-Brophy, Deputy Headteacher, had the honour of presenting the 2025/26 House Cup this week to the winning House Leaders and she was particularly delighted it was to her unashamedly favourite House! Mrs Greenaway reports:

Congratulations to Chipsey House who are this year’s winners of the Sir Michael Griffiths House Cup. Well done to all the students who participated in the numerous competitions across last year- taking part in everything really makes the difference and it has been wonderful to see the drive and passion within Chipsey - they certainly have an immensely strong House Spirit.  Also, congratulations to Mr Hammond, Chipsey’s House Director, for winning in his first year of tenure, to last year’s House Leaders; Tunmise, Edward, Grace and Karl, for getting the House in such a strong position and to Charlie, Aoife, Ivanna and Poppy for continuing to boost morale and the points as this year’s House Leaders, especially during Sports Day.  It was also a big thank you to Mrs Bradley-Brophy, Deputy Head, for presenting the cup, particularly apt as she is a previous Chipsey House Director and has been an avid Chipsey supporter for 20 years!

 

It is always a source of amazement as to how the Year 13 leavers manage to create such an impressive legacy Theatre production inside two weeks before they disappear off to University/Gap Years/Apprenticeships! Director of the Show - Mrs Greenaway, reports again on a richly entertaining performance - this year of 'Frozen' which played out to a packed audience!   

Sunday night was the culmination of the 10 day challenge - putting on a musical from scratch with last year's leavers and current Sixth Form. It was a challenge but also so much fun - late nights and two weekends which provided the students with a different experience and a real sense of urgency and working as a team from the get go, as well as trusting me that it'll be aright on the night! The students have so many other commitments and the leavers are working or preparing to leave for University; the first time we had everyone on stage for a full run-through was the performance!! I call it a jigsaw production - I work with the pieces and then they miraculously all fit together on the night! There were some fantastic performances but what really makes it, is that everyone from main role to ensemble is fully engaged in the moment and there to give their absolute best to ensure a night full of fun. They certainly did that - they did an excellent job and it was a pleasure to work with these young people, some sadly for the last time, and to get to know some new faces. It was a fabulous way to say goodbye to the leavers and to welcome in the new school year in such an uplifting way. Thank you to all the students involved – the audience were wowed by your talent and professionalism - you deserve to be very proud, and also thanks to Ms Hasan, Miss Jackson, Mr Cave, Mr Jackson, Mr Ritchie and Mrs Wilborn, who behind the scenes helped it all come together.  We can't wait for next year's challenge!

 

Many congratulations to the many NSB athletes who were involved with three age groups for Rugby and Northampton Athletics Club at the recent Youth Development League National Final in Liverpool, with some extraordinary performances! 

Finally, sticking with the athletics theme, our super star Shot Putter - Michael Graham from Year 12 represented England at the SIAB home nations championships earlier this month and won the shot put to effectively become British U16 Champion!
