Former Head Boy taking Political Lead in University Lecturer Strike 2018

Former NSB Head Boy, Conrad Whitcroft White, has taken political action into the wider sphere through a recent campaign to request recompense for students for loss of lectures during the upcoming strike action by lecturers at 64 universities this week. More than a million students could be affected by the four week period of action in a row over changes to staff pensions.

Conrad Whitcoft, aged eighteen, is a first year politics student at University of York and has started an online petition, which currently has over 4000 signatures. Conrad has been interviewed and quoted in The Guardian, the I-newspaper, The Sunday Times, The Daily Telegraph and The York Press and as a result other students from other universities have followed his lead and the campaign is gaining ground.

Conrad was also interviewed for ITV North on 13th February and took part in debate on student radio and BBC York. Conrad clearly has a passion for politics and shows maturity and clarity of argument.

“Conrad continues to embrace politics as a form of action as well as a form of academic study. He has always been involved and such activity can only serve to raise his profile in the political world.” Mr M. Evans - NSB Sixth Form Year Team Director
