Northampton School for Boys

Headmaster's Bulletin 18th December 2020

Although we have been forced into a Charity Week Plan B due to COVID-19, it has again, under Mrs Greenaway's leadership, been a roaring success. As of yesterday, we have raised over £5000 for local and national charities and we have also collected well over 3000 items to distribute to various groups in need around the local community.

There were many examples of some brilliant fundraising ideas, but I must highlight Ishar Bhullar from 12J who raised - for a 24 hour fast an incredible £1155!!!!!!!! An amazing achievement!

We say goodbye to two members of staff at the end of this term. Laura Wilcox, who has inspired hundreds of students in their love of dance over the past three years, particularly those in KS3 and Paul Bryant who will be retiring after being a PE teacher at the school since 2000. Paul has many NSB highlights, including the oversight and development of the thriving Inter-House Sports programme and incredible success as a school rugby coach, running various tours, leading teams to three East Midlands titles and he would also have led the U15s out onto the Twickenham turf last year for their national final if COVID-19 had not struck. We wish both staff the very best of luck in their futures.

Following government announcements yesterday about the staggered year group return of students in January and associated mass testing in secondary schools, I have emailed all parents today over the relevant arrangements for NSB students. I would be grateful if all parents / carers could read this important email before we return to school.

A very happy Christmas and New Year to all connected to the school.

Richard Bernard
Headmaster
