NSB 19 v St. Ambrose College 10
NSB progress through to the semi finals of the Daily Mail Under 15 Competition with a truly heroic win over St. Ambrose from Cheshire. 646 teams started out in the competition and now the school is through to the last 4.
The team have now won 8 rounds beating schools from all over the UK. Victories have been against Campion 34 - 14, Bablake 22 - 18, John Cleveland 56 - 14, Uppingham 41 - 7, Bishop Vesey 20 - 3, Adams Grammar 10 - 0, St. George's 19-7 and St. Ambrose 19 - 10. Many of these wins have been away from home and have been really hard fought.
St. Ambrose were a very quick and fit side who threw the ball around and attacked from anywhere, they had searing pace in their back 3 but the NSB defence were immense, making tackle after tackle in an intense atmosphere with half the opposition school on the touch line.
A quick tap penalty from the home side gave them a 5-0 lead but slowly the NSB team fought their way back into the game and eventually took control. Tries from Will Cheyne, Jack Allen and Tom Collins saw the Northampton team home but it was their defence that won them the game. One bone shuddering tackle from centre Jordan Husband epitomised their commitment but the whole team deserve enormous credit.
The semi finals are at Broad Street rugby club on Saturday 28th february - other schools left in the Tournament are Barnard Castle and Millfield. Latest News:
