Headteacher's Bulletin - Friday, May 3rd 2024

Year 13 had their last day of school today before going on to Study Leave prior to their A level examinations. They have been an excellent year group - strong both academically and in extracurricular activities as well as being excellent role models for the younger students. Year 11 also move into formal and targeted revision classes next week as they begin their GCSEs. We wish all of our students the very best of luck in their public exams and, on the associated theme, well done also to Year 10 whose attitude and behaviour has been exemplary during their End of Year exams this week.

Yesterday, NSB Dance enjoyed a visit from Lady Dorfman OBE who is a prominent figure and supporter of ballet and wider dance in England. The students and staff really enjoyed meeting with Lady Dorfman who watched a spectacular dance showcase before participating in an engaging Question and Answer session after the performance.

There are several curriculum field trips due out between now and the end of the academic year and our Year 12 Geography students are currently in the middle of a visit to Swanage and Boscombe. The latest report from Miss Alderson is extremely positive with reference to the students making excellent progress on the set tasks!

Many congratulations to all of our young golfers who competed in the Northamptonshire Schools Golf Championships on Monday where Y11 student, Jadon Pham took the County Gross Score title. Mr Bradbury (J) reports:

Monday saw the top 48 golfers from around the county compete in the Northamptonshire Schools Golf Championships. Both NS and NSB were represented in what was a very tough contest hosted at Brampton Heath GC with the swirling winds making for difficult golfing conditions.   NSB students carded some outstanding rounds, winning the Team Gross Score competition and we are now waiting to hear whether or not we will be one of only 9 schools in the country to qualify for the National Finals. Jadon Pham(Y11), had an exceptional performance, scoring a highly impressive 74 (+2) on a challenging day to be crowned Northamptonshire County champion.

Congratulations also to the Football U13 A team who had the ideal preparation for their two National Cup finals later this month by winning the County Cup Football Final against Guilsborough School on Thursday.

We look forward to welcoming our students back after the Bank Holiday break, on Tuesday, May 7th.
