Headteacher's Bulletin - Friday, April 26th 2024

On Wednesday, The Sixth Form  Race Ambassadors attended a Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) conference at Northampton School for Girls. Miss Adabale, who leads this group, reports:

"It was a wonderful day where NSB students actively participated in meaningful discussions which enabled them to confidently showcase some of the incredible DEI work undertaken at NSB. From highlighting inclusive practices to sharing success stories, our students were able to demonstrate with clarity the amazing progress we have made in DEI within our school community. Collaboration with students from other local schools was a key feature of the event, which has helped to enrich the broader perspectives and reflective practices of of our students which can only help further boost our DEI provision going forward."

NSB Dance is thriving and we have some outstanding successes to enjoy and celebrate from the past week. Our Junior and Senior groups took part in the Regional Qualifiers of the Great British Dance Off Competition and the Seniors were selected to perform in the National Finals, with the Juniors also performing very well in the qualifying event. Our 'Making Moves' group competed in the N.Dance Festival (Northamptonshire Festival) and have been put forward to the National panel for consideration to represent the East Midlands at the National U.Dance Festival in the summer. A huge well done to all involved! Our dancers also have a big internal showcase event to look forward to next Thursday with the visit of Lady Dorfman to the school, who is an influential national voice and champion of Ballet and Dance.

Many congratulations to Year 11 student and champion swimmer Mario Vasconcellos-Blanch who won his 100m Fly (butterfly) heat at the East Midlands Regional Championships on Saturday and then took another second off his Personal Best to win Gold in the final to be crowned Regional Champion for the third Year in a row. Mario's time now gets him firmly back into the Top 10 in Britain for his age and he also qualifies for the British Summer Championships in July. This is a particularly impressive achievement given Mario has restricted time available for Fly specific training due to his GCSE revision and also because of the time that he gives to Water Polo where he has  similar levels of prowess.

On the sporting front, many congratulations also to the Year 8 Basketball team who were crowned County Champions this week. Well Done!
