Headmaster's Bulletin 14th December 2018
One of the highlights of the school year is the Academic Awards Evening and our event on Tuesday to celebrate the 2017/18 year was again a fantastic occasion. Great credit goes to all of the prize winners who have done wonderfully well to secure an award in such a high achieving environment. It was also heart-warming to see so many of last year's Y13 students who are clearly making great strides at university or in their new employment positions.
Two of our longest serving teachers in Deirdre Kennedy (Assistant Headteacher) and Mark Lee (School Development and Rugby Director) are retiring at the end of term after a fantastic 54 years of service combined to the school. Both have made wide-ranging outstanding contribution to NSB and will be sorely missed. We wish them both a very happy and healthy retirement.
I was delighted to hear that NSB was mentioned twice by Schools Minister, Nick Gibb MP and once by the Minister for the Arts, Michael Ellis MP (for Northampton North), on Wednesday of this week during the Digital, Culture, Media and Sport Select Committee’s sitting at the House of Commons. We were highlighted for our exceptional extracurricular provision which is recognised as having a positive impact on our outstanding academic performance. A reminder that school finishes for students at 1.30pm on Wednesday of next week as we break for Christmas and I hope all connected to the school have an excellent holiday period. We look forward to the safe return of students on Thursday 3rd January 2019.
