2016

2016 has seen many magnificent achievements

The academic results were recognised by the DFE and the Government for "outstanding academic achievement."

The school has been ranked the No. 1 State school in the Country twice in the last three years - just in the last year the Under 18 rugby squad won the NatWest Vase Final at Twickenham in front of 20,000 supporters, the Under 15 Football team won the National Schools’ Cup at the Madejski Stadium and the school reached national finals in Athletics, Cross Country and Basketball - a tremendous achievement across the board.

The new Edward Cripps Human Performance Centre has brought huge dividends both in the development of swimming and water polo alongside major strides in Dance and Strength and conditioning.

On the stage the standard of performance remains absolutely top drawer and I strongly recommend that you check the forthcoming events at the Cripps Hall Theatre and try to get along to some of them - you will not be disappointed - former student Oliver Druker has taken over the Director of Music role from Barry Johnson and is maintaining the fantastic standards of his predecessors.

The drama productions are also first class allowing the students to show their wonderful array of talents - 2016 saw a magnificent production of Sweeney Todd from the Sixth Form and first up for 2017 is the Junction 17 Dance Show and NSB Production of Oliver! This is closely followed by a musical presentation called Spring Awakening where the fantastic musical talent of the school will be on show in March - please see The Cripps Hall Events on website for full details.

Residential experience is still very high on the agenda at the school 2016/17 sees students travelling to the Caribbean, Australia, USA, Iceland, Malawi, China, Lanzarote, Bude (Outdoor Pursuits) and really just demonstrates the wonderful opportunities open to our students.

We are also proud to announce that we are now running a very successful Teaching School where budding young or older trainee teachers can enrol and learn the trade - full details of this can be gained from Deputy Head Mr Matthew Edwards.

Finally the Former Student London Luncheon, an event now in its sixth year was held at the iconic Long Room at Lords Cricket Ground on Friday May 26th.
