Northampton School for Boys

Headmaster's Bulletin 22nd September 2017

We enjoy a huge amount of success at the school but on occasion we receive some exceptional news about the achievements of individual students and that's certainly the case in regard to one of our current Year 9 students, Christopher Trotter.

Christopher has beaten off competition from thousands of applications to reach the final four of the nationally acclaimed 'BBC Radio 2 Young Choristers of the Year' competition. Christopher, who is also the Lead Chorister of All Saints' Church, Northampton will perform in front of a live audience in the final shortly and I am sure many of us will be glued to our radios when the programme is broadcast live to the nation later on this year.

Keeping with the Expressive Arts, our dancers have also hit the limelight with four NSB students (Lewis Simpson, Elise Clinton, Charlie Goddard and Andreas Giglio) about to hit the Royal & Derngate stage in a short curtain raiser to the Richard Alston Professional Dance Group production which is playing out on Thursday 5th and Friday 6th October. Twenty students across Northamptonshire and Bedfordshire have been selected and trained by Richard Alston himself for this performance and so for NSB to have representation of a fifth of the troupe is a fantastic achievement reflecting extremely well on the health of Dance here at the school.

Finally, I am delighted to report that former student; Mitch Johnson is now a published author following the publication of his book, 'Kick' on September 1st. The book has received excellent reviews and readers should look out for a major article on our website next week to celebrate the book's success.
