Northampton School for Boys

Headmaster's Bulletin 26th February 2021

It has been a busy week, kicking off with the Prime Minister's very pleasing news that we will shortly be able to welcome all NSB students back to school. Planning the required mass testing around the safe return of the students is a complex task for a school of our size and we will be sending out finalised plans to parents and carers early next week. News also came through yesterday of the results of the GCSE / A Level / BTEC Ofqual consultation and I have written to Year 11 / 13 parents and carers today to summarise the main findings.

The school received the sad news this week that long serving former trustee and governor Anne Goodman passed away last weekend. Anne served the school and the community with distinction, always having the best interests of the students as her utmost priority. Former Headmaster of the school, Sir Michael Griffiths, worked closely with Anne during his leadership of NSB and he has written an eloquent and fitting tribute which can be found on the school website: Please Click Here

Finally, many congratulations to Year 9 student Alec Perry who is demonstrating incredible commitment to cycling over the lockdown period. Alec was profiled in the Chronicle & Echo back in August for the sheer weight of mileage that he had clocked up during the lockdown (6,500 miles at that point) and he has maintained an insatiable thirst for eating up the road with over 1000km completed over the recent holiday week, which included four rides of 100 miles plus. Equally impressive is that Alec has continued to demonstrate excellent progress in his remote academic work alongside his cycling feats: Please Click Here
